Daylight Photo Awards Guidelines

An international photography competition run by Daylight Books.

Please note that due to the high volume of requests, it is not possible for Daylight’s editors or exhibition staff to review unsolicited material outside of the Daylight Photo Awards competition.

Schedule and Deadline

Submissions accepted from March 1–May 15th, 2016

Deadline: May 15th, 2016, 8 p.m. (EST)

Winners announced in August 2016.  

Entry Fees

Daylight Photo Award entry fee is $35.

Multiple entries are permitted but must be for different bodies of work.

The winner will receive a solo show at the Daylight Project Space as well as a digital showcase of their work. Juror picks will receive a selection of Daylight's previously published books.

How to Enter (It’s Easy!)

Applicants upload work and submit payment online at http://daylightphotoawards.com (from March 1 to May 15th, 2016).

You will be asked to provide the following:

15-20 images, captions, one-page artist’s statement, bio and CV

What are the jurors of the Daylight Photo Awards looking for?

We will consider still images made from all photographic processes, both traditional and digital. You should demonstrate the ability to build a strong series of images and a cohesive body of work.

Are there any restrictions on who can apply?

No!

Can I submit my photos as prints or CDs in the mail?

We only accept digital (jpeg/jpg) submissions via our online system (http://www.daylightphotoawards.com). For good image quality and fast upload, each image file should be sized at around 1024 x 768 pixels at 72 ppi. Our online system allows only small files to be uploaded please save for web in 8 bit color mode. The jury will review photos and written materials on screen only.

How many times can I enter?

You can submit as many entries as you wish, however, please note:

If you are submitting multiple portfolios for consideration each portfolio will require payment of the $35 submission fee. Multiple entries must be for different bodies of work.

The Fine Print

Daylight Photo Awards reserves the right to reject entries that are not submitted properly.

Submissions should come directly from artists, not from galleries or representatives.

Staff of Daylight are not eligible to enter the competition.

By entering the Daylight Photo Awards, you accept these competition rules:

You agree and acknowledge that Daylight Photo Awards is permitted to receive your registration data. Participants agree that personal data including, but not limited to, name, mailing address, phone number, and email address may be collected, processed, stored and otherwise used for the purposes of conducting and administering the Photo competition. In entering, you agree to allow Daylight Magazine to add your email address to its respective mailing lists.

You are the sole owner and author of all submitted material. Daylight Photo Awards recognizes that you retain full ownership of the copyright of each photograph submitted.

All winners understand that the photographs submitted to the Daylight Photo Awards may be used to promote the competition and agree to supply a high-resolution image suitable for printing in the media upon request. Any photograph used by Daylight Photo Awards will have a photographer’s credit.
